The production date is closing in! Costume pieces are coming in and special props and set pieces are still being constructed. We had our first official production meeting as a crew last weekend and we assembled the shooting schedule. Things should turn out nicely. Getting a little nervous about getting everything I want in and done while trying to keep the film on budget AND on schedule. Ideally I'd like to have the film complete by March 2009 and begin sending to film festivals. I have also decided to continue submitting my previous short films to festivals as well. I had applied to the American Film Institute in California and will hear from them in April whether or not I am accepted. The plan is to hopefully migrate west, continue my education in film and God willing, bridge into the film industry. I see and hear success stories of filmmakers whose short films get picked up or recognized by big industry figures and develop their shorts into features. I hope to do the same. I heard some temp tracks for the film score and it looks to be quite promising! In the coming weeks I hope to have pictures from the shoot and maybe even a new still or two from the film. All I can say is there will be a LOT of green screen work and new shots and ideas have been brewing to make the film more cohesive and visually arresting. Let us see what happens...I ate too much this week....

Happy Belated Thanksgiving! Jed Rowen has done the voice work for the narrator so I am able to piece that into the animatic I have created and gauge how long the movie will run. Also more of the costumes have been completed including Ms. Ruthers dress, Dr. Freakshow and A Riot Officer. Some new ideas are a brewing and I am thinking that a second second unit shoot will have to take place either after initial production or sometime in December. Below are some pictures of Actress Kari Morris modelling the dress and apron. Note that these pictures were taken when the dress was near completion and will make sure those pins are gone. Well, this weekend we shot the 2nd unit shots for the film. All the shots came out awesome so big thank you to the crew that came out and helped shoot. Couldn't have done it with you! So all that's left is the rest of the movie! Shooting will pick up again in January but in the meantime there is lots of preproduction left to do for costumes, props, effects, locations and even casting! I decided to cast myself in a couple of small roles for the film...mainly so I can wear a riot protection uniform! But back to the shooting, we shot the first 3 shots in the film as well as some additional shots that show up later in the film. I did a rough cut of the film's opening and it looks to be quite good. It's still hard to say because we are still missing a LOT of pieces BUT it's got that wonderful Robot Hand charm in the first 45 seconds of the film. We are also shooting some second unit shots this weekend and will most likely have the first 30-50 seconds of the film complete!
I'll post some behind the scenes video and pictures on facebook, myspace and this website after this weekend! In the meantime enjoy these pictures below! The first is a test angle of what I want the word WAR to look like in the film. And the next picture is the first OFFICIAL still from the film. It's a miniature shot (in case you couldn't tell) of an Earth base (or off world base?) where a certain kind of robot is being manufactured...mmmm? Well I hope you enjoy!
